This sample was received in the May 2014 Ink Drop entitled Garden Party. Through a muck up in the Goulet shipping department I received a double Ink Drop shipment that month which has meant that I now have 4 ml of this ink on hand. While you wouldn't think that this has a place at work, I use it for marking up technical drawings of the machinery that I design.

Shading: Not really, what shows up is there by accident rather than design.
Bleed Through: Field Notes shows a lot of bleed through as well as feathering. Copy paper does much better but still experiences some minor bleed through with wet nibs.
Show Through: Absorbent papers will exhibit show through.
Saturation: Average to above-average saturation.
Water Resistance: No useful water resistance.
Drying Time: Quick drying time, 10 seconds using an EF nib on Rhodia.
Flow: Good flow.
Colour Make Up
As can be seen above, the bulk of this ink is made up of magenta die with a very minor blue component that looks to have some permanence.

This is a good colour of purple for how I use it but I think that it would be more challenging to use it for correspondence or for anything other than document mark up in a work environment. When used with ink resistant papers it behaves itself quite well but when you move to more absorbent papers the ink spreads, bleeds through, and feathers. As I come to the end of my sample I have started to consider whether I should purchase a bottle or not, for me I think that Rohrer & Klingner Solferino will be my choice for purple going forward. It's lubricity makes it so nice to write with and its brighter purple is just fine for document mark ups.
