An overview of the inks within this review series is available here. Today's review closes out the Sailor inks that WonderPens sent to the blog for review. I would like to say thank you to Jon and Liz for donating the ink samples and letting us see how the new and old inks compare to each other.
Shigure is the second of two inks that make up the winter inks in the Four Seasons series. It is a dark purple that is easy to read and performs well on ink resistant papers. While it may be questionable to use purple is some workplaces, this shade is dark enough that you will likely be able to pull it off.
Where To Buy (No Affiliate Links)
Shading: Subtle shading, not what you would choose the ink for but a nice bonus to have.
Bleed Through: There is spot bleeding on both Field Notes and Copy paper.
Show Through: It is questionable whether the back side of Copy paper and Field Notes is usable or not. As per normal, the back side of Rhodia is just fine for use.
Saturation: Above average saturation.
Water Resistance: This ink does well on the water resistance test. Writing may be a little murky but it will still be readable after a spill.
Drying Time: A little longer than average time, 20-25 seconds using an EF nib on Rhodia.
Flow: Average flow. Average lubrication.
Cleaning: Yet to be determined. Will update.
Colour Make Up
This ink trace is lead off with a band indigo followed by dark violet which makes up the bulk of the colour. There is a dark band of grey-blue where the ink sample was placed on the wicking media.

While this ink won't make my "Buy" list, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be on yours. It does what it says on the tin and, for those who lust after purple inks, it will likely make a good addition to your arsenal.
Other Reviews For This Ink
I reached out to WonderPens and asked if they would be willing to supply samples of the complete line of Sailor Colors of Four Seasons inks. I do not feel that my opinions of this ink have been affected by receiving the sample free of charge.
