I received this ink directly from Pilot Pen USA for review. Asa-Gao (Morning Glory) is a dark, bold blue that pops off the page. This highly saturated colour is perfect for an every day ink and would be at home in any work place setting.

Shading: This ink does not have any significant shading properties.
Bleed Through: While fine on Rhodia, its performance on Copy paper and Field Notes is middling at best.
Show Through: Absorbant papers will exhibit enough show through to make the back side of the sheet unusable for most people.
Saturation: Highly saturated.
Water Resistance: Some water resistance. Performance on Copy paper is better than Rhodia but both papers would still have useful text after a spill.
Drying Time: Average, 20 seconds using an EF nib on Rhodia.
Flow: Excellent flow, no performance concerns here.
Cleaning: To be determined. Will update in the near future.
Colour Make Up
As can be seen above, this ink trace is lead by a band of hot pink followed by cerulean which makes up the bulk of the colour.

While I really like this colour, it is in a category where there are many similar blues available. That's where this ink falls down, it is marketed as a premium ink with a price to match but the performance does not follow. When used on high quality papers such as Rhodia or Tomoe River it is flawless but Copy paper and Field Notes show that Asa-Gao is susceptible bleed and minor feathering too.
Other Reviews For This Ink
I reached out to Pilot Pen USA and asked if they would be willing to supply ink for review purposes. A bottle of this ink, as well as a second colour, were given to me free of charge. I do not feel that my opinions of this ink have been affected by receiving the review samples free of charge.
