Ink Review: Dublin by SUPER5 iNK

An overview of the inks within this review series is available here. Like Diamine Safari, Super5 iNK Dublin is an earth toned green. Inks like R&K Alt Goldgrün and Montblanc Daniel Defoe Palm green also fall into this camp and are some of my favourites. The one area where Dublin deviates from the above mentioned competitors though is that it is a permanent ink. This property comes at the price of reduced shading though.

Ink Properties

Shading: This ink has subtle shading in broad and medium nibs. Nibs that are finer than that show much less pronounced shading characteristics.
Bleed Through: Copy paper shows spot bleeding for all nib sizes. Field Notes and Rhodia show no ill effects.
Show Through: I consider the back side of Copy paper to be too distracting to use but your mileage may vary. Field Notes and Rhodia are perfectly usable.
Saturation: Average saturation.
Sheen: None.
Water Resistance: 100% waterproof.
Drying Time: A faster than average dry time, 15 seconds using an EF nib on Rhodia.
Flow: Average flow. Better than average lubrication.
Cleaning: Cleaning was incredibly easy.

I wasn't very satisfied with the swabs shown above so I did my own comparison with some inks that I had on hand. Your take away should be that Dublin is a very unique colour.

Conclusions

I like this colour and I have bought two more samples so that I can have a larger volume on hand. I'm not ready to commit to 50 ml but it is nice to have 5 ml around when I am looking to use a permanent ink that is out of the ordinary. The more that I test this series, the more impressed I am with its performance in Field Notes, if these books are part of your system, most of the SUPER5 iNKs would marry up well with them.

I reached out to Goulet Pens and asked if they would be willing to supply samples of the complete line of the SUPER5 iNKs. I do not feel that my opinions of this ink have been affected by receiving the sample free of charge.
