During InCoWriMo I sent many letters using a wax seal and thought nothing of it at the time. It wasn't until I received this tweet from a fellow pen blogger that I thought that my readers may appreciate a behind the scenes look at how to seal a letter that you are about to send out.
The equipment that is required is shown in the image below. This kit consists of the stick of supple wax, burgundy in my case, a brass sealing disc that is attached to a wooden handle and the heat source to melt the wax. While you can use a regular lighter or match, this butane torch does the job really well and wasn't too expensive.
I have made a video showing the process from start to finish so you can see just how easy it is to make a seal on your next letter. If you are in Canada you can get sealing supplies from WonderPens. For readers in the US, Goulet Pens has an excellent selection of waxes and brass discs to choose from.
